Yogi Pure Green Decaf

For my very first review, I wanted to talk about a tea that is not only delicious, but is sure to please tea-lovers from across the board. For that, I chose to review Yogi's Pure Green Decaf tea.
The first thing that I noticed about this tea (aside from it's aesthetically pleasing and informative packaging) is the big USDA Organic seal right on the front of the box, which is a major plus for me considering I don't like my tea to taste like pesticides. In fact, if you take a look at the ingredients in this tea, you'll see that the only ingredient listed is "Organic decaffeinated green tea leaf." Which brings me to the second major plus of this tea, the fact that it's decaffeinated.

I don't know about everyone else, but I'm a big green tea lover. Not only is it exceptionally beneficial to your health, but it's exceptionally tasty. I personally love a nice, big mug of green tea just before bed, but unfortunately my caffeine sensitivity prohibits me from drinking it as often as I'd like. But with this Yogi Pure Green Decaf, I can drink it no matter the time of day (or night).

So enough small-talk, let's get on to how the tea actually tastes...

For me, I like to steep one teabag in 16oz of hot water for about 5 minutes, although the package recommends to steep one teabag per 8oz of water for 3 minutes. I'm not too precise when it comes to tea formalities, so bear in mind that you may have different results based on how you decide to brew your own cup of tea. But after 5 minutes of soaking, I got a nice amber-colored tea with a lightly honey-sweet aroma.

This tea definitely has a PURE taste, like it says in the name. Too often have I tasted green teas that come off as bitter or even citrusy, but not this one. To me, it tastes very mild with an ever so slight sweetness. It's well-rounded but simple, which makes it universally pleasing. Although I tend to prefer a green tea that has a stronger, earthier flavor, I like the palatability of this tea. It's smooth, light, and could easily be blended with other teas to create custom flavors. This tea is great for someone who is new to green tea or just likes to keep things simple.

Not to mention that every tea bag has adorable little words of advice printed on every tag, my favorite so far being, "A relaxed mind is a creative mind."

My Morning Tea Reviews Intro

Before I jump the gun and start doing tea reviews, I figured I should give a little background as to who I am and what I hope to achieve with this blog. First off, my name's Angelica and I'm a 21-year-old "young lady" living in Louisville, Kentucky. I guess you could say that I'm not your typical bar-happy 21-year-old, considering my drink of choice is..well, tea. I used to be a big coffee girl but I've switched to tea in the past year as I've discovered that there's a lot more variety to be found in tea. (Not to mention I have a pretty bad caffeine sensitivity, and we all know how high in caffeine coffee is compared to tea.) I drink tea in the mornings, sometimes before bed, and even sometimes on my breaks at work. I actually literally carry tea bags, jars of honey and a mug with me every day, just in case my tea craving strikes. I've even been spotted holding a mug in one hand while driving down the street, or pausing for a moment to catch a quick drink of tea while working my job on an assembly-line.

. For me, tea is a complete experience, not just a beverage, and I feel that it should be savored in every way possible. It's my moment of refuge in my hectic life, my time to relax and unwind, my comfort. I think we all deserve to have a little dose of happiness in our stressful and crazy lives, and if that can be achieved through a simple cup of tea, then why not?

I'm actually still a newbie to the world of tea, as I've only recently started collecting teas from all over; from my neighborhood Kroger, to health food stores, to specialty tea shops. My tea cabinet is getting a little over-full and half of them I haven't even opened and tried yet. I think it's about time to stop going tea-crazy and actually drink the stuff. I know I still have a lot to learn, and a lot to try and experience, and what better way to enjoy the journey of exploring this world of tea than to share my findings for all to see? I hope that anyone who shares the same passion for tea as I do-the excitement of trying out a new tea, the warmth of the mug in your hands, the delicious and therapeutic aroma floating up to your nose-can gain a little something from reading my blog. Whether it be some insight on a new company or flavor to try out, or just a little entertainment in sharing one of life's most simple pleasures with a stranger on the internet... And if you don't share the same passion for tea as I do, then I hope I can enlighten you on what the world of tea has to offer.

So with that being said, I'm going to be writing reviews on some of the teas that I've already tried and any new teas that I try from here on out. I'll also update you all on whatever new teas I purchase, although it might be a while before that happens as I've got a lot of tea to drink up before I go buying more.

And just so you can get a glimpse of what I've got to review at the moment, here's a list of what's in my tea cabinet:
